Top Positive Review

I gave this to my sister for Christmas and she immediately used it to make mini treats with the kids. They LOVE it! I just kept getting texts and pictures from them about how functional and FUN it is.

I initially bought this set because my daughter loved making pretend food creations (using real food) with her barbie pans and utensils. She would mix things like flour and water, microwave them until hardened, and then decorate. With this set, I thought, how fun, she can make real tiny food that we can actually eat! And while yes that’s true, it’s not as great as I expected it to be. I guess I was thinking “small” would also mean “quick and easy”. The very first recipe had us baking a tiny little pie plate of food for 20 minutes. The ingredients ended up bubbling over, so we lost half of it, and was a crumbly mess when we tried to cut it. (I tried this same recipe again, measuring meticulously!, and the same thing happened.) The tiny measuring spoons, while adorable, become very tedious in their usage when you need 6-10 wee-spoons per ingredient. And when the recipe does turn out to be delicious, there’s only one little bite as a reward for all your hard, messy work. While I appreciate the cuteness of this set and the science/learning included with it, I just don’t feel like it’s worth the time or the energy that goes into it.
